The Henderson Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of Taras Krysa as its Artistic Advisor.  Maestro Krysa will direct the orchestra’s concert programming for this and next season and will take over the music direction of many of the orchestra’s performances, following the departure of current Music Director Alexandra Arrieche at the end of September.

Of the upcoming season, Maestro Krysa said, “This season, as I return as Artistic Director, I want to present great music in a way that both inspires and delights. Our programming will focus on works by many well-known composers — voices that still speak across centuries — alongside lighter concerts that bring families and friends together.”    A native of Ukraine, Maestro Krysa is the former music director of the Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra, Ukraine.   He has led many notable orchestras across the globe, including the National Symphony of Ukraine and the Kyiv Chamber Orchestra, as well as important orchestras in Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, and Russia, including the St. Petersburg Symphony.  In the United States, he has conducted the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra, Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, Eastman Chamber Orchestra, the Las Vegas Philharmonic, and several others.  Maestro Krysa is also a noted violinist.    Alexandra Arrieche has been the music director of the Henderson Symphony Orchestra for ten successful seasons.  Among the most popular concerts the orchestra has performed under her direction are the traditional movie concerts in which the orchestra performs live to popular films.  Maestra Arrieche’s farewell performance with the orchestra at the end of the month will be one such concert, Toy Story, on September 26, at 7 pm at the Water Street Plaza, in Downtown Henderson.     Stephen M. Rice, President of the Henderson Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors said, “We are immensely grateful for the enormous contributions that Alexandra has made to the HSO family and for the lasting impact she leaves behind. All of us wish her the very best.”

Taras Krysa is no stranger to the Henderson Symphony; he led the orchestra as music director from 2007 to 2016.  He is a founder and the Music Director of the Las Vegas Sinfonietta and holds the position of Director of Orchestras at the University of Las Vegas School of Music.
